Route description

Tim writes (04/11/2020): Often viewable from the Forest of Bowland, Whernside looks less prominent than its neighbours.  But it is actually the largest of the famous Yorkshire Three Peaks at 736m above sea level.

Today, on a very hot day, I and my son Jack took the most popular route from Ribblehead.  The climb up is fairly gradual, I remember it being surprisingly easier than Pen-y-Ghent and Ingleborough.  However, climbing down is steep and definitely gets the knees wobbling!

This Whernside walk is a fairly long walk, but the rewards are well worth it.
