This walk starts at the small car park off School Lane (not to be confused with the main Stocks Reservoir car park). After a short distance walking north up School Road, the route takes you through a few farms before heading into Gisburn Forest.
It’s not long until the route takes you up to Whelp Stone Crag (which also appears as Whelpstone Crag on some maps), and then onto Holden Moor and back into the forest.
Light was bad today and we were late setting off, it certainly wasn’t a day for pictures. We strayed off the chosen route a few times and perhaps walked along some bike paths, so be aware and leave plenty of room in case. Luckily we made it back to the car just as it was going dark.
