Farleton Knott

Tim writes: I’ve always seen Farleton Fell, or Farleton Knott as it is also called, from the M6 and fancied walking up to it.  But the trouble was that I’d usually be on my way to the Yorkshire Dales.

I’m spending a lot of time in Kendal at the moment and having a free day I thought it would be an opportunity to go and have a look.  It seems quite a dominating fell from the M6 but actually the car park spot makes for a very easy walk.

For people who enjoy walking over limestone, after 5 minutes you’ll be in for a treat.  A large section of the fell is covered in limestone, which you can’t really see from the car.

The top of the fell is recognisable as it is the section you can see from the motorway, which is about 500m away.  The sounds of the traffic can be heard.

There are some paths but I often went off route and had a look around for photo spots.
